Putin’s Mother

Director: Ineke Smits
Running Time: 51 minutes
The Netherlands 2003

Not much in Vera Putina’s 77 year old existence distinguishes her from all those other Russian women who grew up and grew old in the Soviet Union.

Until in 1999, she recognised in Vladimir Putin the son she thought was lost forever.  She is absolutely convinced that her precious son Vova who disappeared at the age of 10, is now the President.

Her daughters and the other inhabitants of the Georgian village of Metechi support her claims.
