The New York Times review: A touching narrative on the nature
of faith. Powerful and shocking
Six years in the making, this is the story of Dietrich Bonhoeffer,
the young German theologian and pacifist who became one of the
first voices of resistance of Adolf Hitler.
Bonhoeffer is the unfolding of one mans personal struggle
to discern the will of God in the madness of Nazi Germany and
the chaos of World War Two.
Through his story, universal questions arise about the nature
of faith, the practicality of pacifism, and the role of the church
in the modern world.
He was captured and executed weeks before the end of the war.
He was 39 years old. Since his death, Bonhoeffers letters
and books have emerged as some of the most important spiritual
writings from the period.
