Running Time: 85 minutes
Germany 2004
Where exactly is the centre of Europe? Within a radius of no fewer than 2000 kilometres, a dozen villages and towns claim to be the centre. The film embarks on an entertaining odyssey across Germany, Austria, Poland, Slovakia, Lithuania and Ukraine. Along the way both the history outside Europe and the new era within the European Union are addressed in stories about the construction of a railroad, a vanished bridge, a visit by the Pope, Hitler’s birthplace, poverty and adjacent time zones. The residents own views on Europe add to the conundrum.
