This film is based on the book by the film maker Tomo Kriznar, and tells the story of his illegal journey to the Nuba Mountains in Sudan. In the dry season of 1988, with the help of his bike, the director Tomo Kriznar managed to sneak through the government lines and what he founds is the story of the unknown genocide perpetrated for fifteen years against the Nuba people. Tomo writes: ‘When I had first visited the Nuba Mountains in 1980, I met the happiest and healthiest people on the planet. I called them pure people… nineteen years and two million victims of the Sudanese civil war later, the Nuba Mountains are sealed shut and cut off from the world.’ |
