  Goat Walker
Director: Bartek Konopka
Running Time: 52 minutes
Germany 2004

Post Screening Discussion With Director

Rural Poland comes alive as very poor farmers struggle to adopt a new form of government welfare – a goat. In 1989, Poland began the transformation from a socialist economy to a free market economy and the State Agricultural Collectives were dissolved. This dissolution meant many of the agricultural workers were unemployed and living in near poverty. To help these people different institutions came forward with their solutions. The Agricultural Ministry decided instead of giving money to these villagers, they would give them goats.
